History of the National Black MBA Association

In 1970, a group of MBA candidates, from several graduate schools in the Midwest met at the University of Chicago. They came to discuss forming an organization and developing the concepts and objectives which would later form the NBMBAA.

It was clear to chapter members in the early 1970s and even more so today, that sufficient information relative to peculiarities within the public and private sectors is essential for success. Thus, the National Black MBA Association, Inc. was organized on the basis that minority professionals in business, approach their careers and aspirations with the knowledge that articulates their aims, goals, and aspirations.

The National Black MBA Association is dedicated to creating partnerships that result in creating intellectual and economic wealth in the black community.

In partnership with over 400 of the countrys top business organizations, the association has inroads into a wide range of industries as well as the public and private sector. Yet all of NBMBAAs partners have one thing in common they are all committed to the organizations goals and values.

The National Black MBA Association has more than 6,000 members and represents more than 95,000 MBA graduates and operates around three cornerstones:

  • Education
  • Employment
  • Leadership

The organization gains its strength from a strong belief in community and a commitment to its development through economic and educational development initiatives that support the global African American community.

In July 2000 the NBMBAAs influence on the global community emerged with a shout when, in July 2000, Black MBA UK was launched.
